InBody Body Composition Scan
See Beyond the Scale.
Your weight only tells you how much you weigh—not what that weight is made of. An InBody Scan provides a detailed look at your body composition, giving you and our team objective measurements to better understand your starting point, set more meaningful goals, and track how your body changes over time.
Better Wellness Starts with Better Information
The scale can be frustratingly incomplete. You might lose weight while maintaining muscle. Your weight might stay relatively stable while your body composition changes. Two people at the exact same weight can have very different amounts of muscle and body fat.
At Above & Beyond Health & Wellness, we want to look beyond a single number when body composition matters to your goals.
The technology evaluates both surface and subsurface features, helping reveal concerns that may not be as obvious under everyday lighting.
It means you can spend less time guessing, and we can spend more time creating a plan with a purpose.
What Does an InBody Scan Measure?
Skeletal Muscle Mass
See how much of your body weight is made up of skeletal muscle, providing useful context for fitness, weight-management, and body-composition goals.
Body Fat Mass
Measures the amount of fat mass in your body rather than relying on total body weight alone.
Percent Body Fat
Shows the percentage of your total body weight that comes from body fat, providing another way to understand and monitor body composition.
Body Water
Provides information about the water within your body and its distribution, adding another layer of context to your overall analysis.
Segmental Analysis
Get a more detailed look at the composition of different areas of the body rather than viewing your body as one single measurement.
Visceral Fat
Provides additional insight into fat stored around the abdominal organs, an important measurement to consider as part of the broader picture of your health.
More Than a Number on the Scale
The value of InBody isn’t simply having more numbers. It’s understanding what those numbers mean for you.
Your results give your Above & Beyond provider objective information to consider alongside your health, goals, lifestyle, and the wellness plan you’re working toward.
Maybe you’ve lost fewer pounds than you expected, but your body composition tells a more encouraging story. Perhaps maintaining muscle deserves more attention as you work toward weight loss. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a baseline so you can measure future progress against something more meaningful than weight alone.
That’s where technology meets expertise: InBody provides the measurements. Our team helps put them into context.
Start understanding your body.
Whether you’re beginning a medical weight loss program, working toward body-composition goals, or simply curious about what exists beyond the number on your scale, an InBody Scan gives you a clearer place to start. We’ll help you understand the results and put that information into context with what matters to you.
Questions About InBody Scans?
What is an InBody Scan?
InBody is a body composition analysis system that uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate components of your body composition, including muscle, body fat, and body water. It provides considerably more information than body weight alone.
How is an InBody Scan different from a regular scale?
A traditional scale tells you your total weight. InBody breaks that number down further, providing measurements related to muscle, body fat, body water, and other aspects of body composition.
Do I need an InBody Scan before starting Medical Weight Loss?
Not necessarily. InBody is a useful tool for establishing a baseline and tracking body-composition changes, but your provider will determine what evaluation is appropriate for your individual weight-management plan.
Can I book an InBody Scan on its own?
Yes. Above & Beyond offers a one-time InBody Scan, so you don’t have to participate in another wellness program to get a closer look at your body composition.
How should I prepare for an InBody Scan?
Because factors such as food, exercise, hydration, and time of day can influence bioelectrical impedance measurements, following consistent preparation instructions helps make comparisons more useful. Our team can tell you how to prepare before your appointment.
Can InBody show whether I'm losing fat instead of muscle?
Body-composition measurements can provide additional insight into changes in estimated body fat and skeletal muscle over time. Comparing scans can therefore give you more context than simply comparing your weight.
Is an InBody Scan a medical diagnosis?
No. InBody provides body-composition measurements that can help inform a broader assessment, but the scan itself doesn’t diagnose a medical condition. Your provider can help put your results into the appropriate context.
